Alpaca Knitwear Crowland It was over ten years ago in 2005 when we took our first steps into Alpaca Knitwear in the Crowland area. We were looking for something different and interesting to base our work around. This meant venturing into the world of Alpacas. We find them fascinating and love to work with them in Crowland.Alpacas are addictive and within a year we decided to expand and specialise in Alpaca Knitwear and in coloured alpacas. This then lead onto us buying 8 black pregnant females.
Ten
years later we now have 84 beautiful alpacas of all colours and all ages. Vermillion is our oldest female herd leader at 18 years old and the baby of the group is Ness who is only 10 months old.
Some of our alpacas come from high up on the altiplano in South America,
where Peru, Chile & Bolivia meet and are brought to Crowland just for you. They are called camelids which means a family made
up of llamas including guanacos, alpacas & vicunas. There are 2 types of
alpacas, huacayas and suris & we have decided to specialise in
huacayas and Alpaca Knitwear. They can come in 22 colours ranging from white to black with fawn, brown and all shades of grey.
